There wasn't much of a part on paper and Mandy Patinkin was originally signed to do the role. But Mandy didn't like the re-writes and he dropped out. My manager, Beth Cannon, talked me into taking the part, thank goodness. I was shooting 'Sisters' and had to commute to New York all winter and it was really difficult. But finally there was no way I could pass up a chance to work with Diane Keaton. None of us had any idea it would go through the roof like it did."
