Opposite Whoopi Goldberg in "Jumpin' Jack Flash," 1986. This was Penny Marshall's first film as director. She took over from Howard Deutch after a week of shooting. In an attempt to make the film her own, Penny tried to re-cast everyone in the movie except Whoopi. "Finally, Richard Dreyfuss was offered my role and turned it down. A little in shock, I stayed on, feeling like a baseball player who'd been traded and then traded back to his original team without missing a game. In truth, I had a lot to learn about acting at the time, and this is one role I wish I could do over again. But when all was said and done, Penny did a great job."
